Need a ballpark price for an A being sold by my neighbor. I think the tractor is a '47 or '48 and runs pretty well. Needs some brake work. Definitely a paint job. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Lot of difference between A and Super A. If it is Super A, in my area of VA, and engine is in very good condition, and tractor is otherwise ok condition, it might bring $1800 - $2000, and more than that with attachments such as cultivators, plow, etc.

Depending on what area you're in, it may even be possible to pick up a nice running A for as little as $250.00.

I would say 1200 bucks or so. It has to run good though.

If it is a 1948 model, it's a Super A. Super As command a little more money.

H.F. Ballpark for a A in fair shape that you could possibly "Drive" home and that "runs pretty good" would be around $800-1000 in my area. Basically it will end up being what you are willing to give and the seller is willing to take to make the deal. There is an old saying that the first one to mention price usually looses. Get him to tell you his asking price and go from there. If it comes with any attachments like a plow make sure all the attaching hardware is with it and included in the price. A disc-harrow is handy on a hobby farm as well. They are nice tractors to mow with and pretty easy to work on. Good luck//FB
