Hi,

Does anybody know what might be happening with the plough on my tractor. It seems to be hooked up correctly. I tried ploughing with it today but it just didn't want to go down into the soil. The point at the front was scraping up about an inch but not going down. The hydraulics were all the way down. Have tried putting weight on the plough. There was a lever that came with the plough or is that just for a tractor without hydraulics. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks all!

Went ploughing today, and it worked! Yesterday I had the drawbar pivoting but it was just going down into the ground. To stop this I hooked it to the front hydraulics with a chain and lowered the drawbar front down about 6". It worked beautifully.

I posted instructions on how to adjust the Super A plow a while back. But here I go again. Since when you start, the plow wheel of the tractor is not in a furrow, the point must be pointed down to get started. To this by adjusting the drawbar to the lowest point, so that the hitch point is a close to the ground as possible. There is a bar that is often missing that goes from the drawbar to the front rockshaft arm to allow doing this with the touch control. However you can get along without that. Of course the problem could be a worn plow point or other worn part such as the landslide that is behind the plow. If you want to properly adjust your plow, put the tractor on a level spot and put the land side wheels up on blocks as high as the depth that you want to plow. Then adjust the drawbar so that the plow landslide is level front to back or tilted slightly to the front is better. Also adjust the plow side to side so that it is level side to side with the land wheels on the blocks. This is done by loosening the bolts that hold the spring hitch to the beam and adjusting the cams that are in the holes that attach the hitch to the beam. This may be difficult, because those cams are probably rusty. If the plow is not properly adjusted side to side, it will not go in. As I said before, to get started put the drawbar at the lowest position and after 2 or 3 furrows, you can adjust it back to the position you had when the tractor was on the blocks. Hope this helps and is not too confusing.

Sam, two things come to mind ,#1the points are wore out #2the ground is to dry which makes the ground so hard the "plow" shear can,t penitrate.Try to plow right after a rain and see if theres a difference.good luck!! Will

If a lever came with your plow. It sounds to me you have aplow for a cub-not a Super A. The super a plow had alink from the right touch control lift arm to the hinged drawbar that let you adjust the angle of the plow point and thus the plowing depth. Good luck.

FIRST ITS SPELLED "PLOW" NOW ON TO THE GOOD STUFF. MAKE SURE THE PLOW IS POINTING DOWN WHEN YOU LOWER IT . IF ITS SETTING ON THE GROUND AND ANYTHING BUT THE TIP END OF THE PLOW IS TOUCHING THE SURFACE YOU HAVE IT ADJUSTED BACK TOO FAR. IF THIS IS THE CASE LOOK FOR SOME ADJUSTMENT WHETHER IT BE SHORTENING THE TOP LINK (IF THREE POINT HITCH) OR BY PUTTING IT IN THE HIGHEST HOLE AVAILABLE ON MOST BELLY MOUNT PLOWS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

This forum is on the world wide web. Plough is perfectly correct in much of the world, for example the U.K. and Canada.
Oh, BTW your CAPS ARE LOCKED ON.

Luke 9:62 "And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

If plough is good enough for the Lord, it's good enough for me. ;o)

You can put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I'm glad you thought of it, I was wondering where I could look for a written statement.
Isn't it funny how some people get amazed that American's are thought of so poorly on the world stage?

At least it was good enough for King James in the 1600's. ;)
