Finally got my SMTA running (stuck piston & cracked head). Now would like some help/recommendations on what type and weight of oil to use for the transmission, torque housing and PTO. I appreciate your help.

I have two Super MTA's. HY-TRAN in both of them.
Like the others said, DO NOT use gear lube.

I think SAE 90 weight would be the best. And you may want input from other guys just to be sure.

Running gear lube in a tractor with a TA is not good practice. Hytran or its equivalent is best.

the heavy oil will not lubricate the needle bearings in the ta and also the spring loaded plungers that push the rollers in the cam to prevent the TA from going backwards when in low range may bind. use a good oil like hytran or a recommended oil from another source such as quicklift from cenex.

Use Case-IH Hy-trans in all 3. That's what I use in mine.
