better take out the screw on top of the pump and fill with oil turn over engine a little and refil this is the easiest way to prime the pump you will hear the pump working and the pressure side will get warm then work the levers back and forth to get the air out of the system

The pump is not your problem. Your problem is the O-ring on the large piston in the hydraulic unit. Fluid is leaking past it. You can get a O-ring and gasket set at your IH dealer which will come with directions. Keep everything real clean and ask lots of questions. Overall, it is not too hard, but rather intimidating the first time.

HOw much of a job was it to tear the pump apart? I need to do the same thing with my C. As soon as I shut the motor off, the three point drops like a rock....

your problem doesnt sound like the pump you have a control valve leaking if you are using the rockshaft for lifting it could be the head gasket in the unit leaking the ITT manual gives some good trouble shooting tips had one like that and got another unit for 20 and it worked fine did not touch the pump

To bleed, remove the filler cap and work the touch control lever back and forth about 10 - 12 times.

After 10 or 12 times, leave the levers in the down position, then fill tank within 1/2 of the filler hole....
