SM = Super M
For the brakes, find a TISCO dealer and save about 50% on your parts.

There should be a number on the right rear of the block, the M would be a 248 the super is 264. difference in the bore is the M is 3 7/8, super is 4", on the super you can go to 4 1/8 with oversize sleeves and pistons which makes it about a 282

John - If the s/n begins with SM and is 3, 4 or 5 digits long, OR if it begins with an L and is 6 digits long, it's a Super M. Also look at the date codes on some of the larger castings (block, head, tranny, wheels, axle housings, etc.) If you find the last digit is an X, Y or Z, it says the parts were cast in '52, '53 or '54 respectively. This also indicates it's probably a Super M.

John what is the serial number? That will quickly clarify if you have an M or Super M.
