Got all of the guts out of the inside today:

Took a hacksaw blade to get the old pilot bushing out.

Pushed the new one in:

Got to wait on some parts, so it will sit until Tuesday.

One question:

In this pic the old style throw out bearing does not turn inside the housing/retainer. Is it suppose to or not. I was told it was not. My thoughts were a bearing is a bearing and is suppose to turn.

The rest of my pics are at the link below

Thanks,
Tyman

Hey Tyler just wanted to ask how you post multiple photos at one time like you have here. I have tried it before by pasteing all the URLs in the optional image slot and just the first one comes up. What am I doing wrong.
Paul
PS thanks for sharing all the great photos

You have to use HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) when you're writing in the "comments" box.

<.img src="URL">

Double space than do it again:

<.img src="URL">

Remove the "." in front of "img" in the examples. I had to do this so it would try to search for an image.

Give it a try. If you have more questions...holler.

My secret is out. I used the tungsten carbide tip chain for the chainsaw to slice it in 2. Aint that the way it's suppose to be done? :-)

What type glue do you use to glue it back together? :-)

Thanks,
Tyman

Tyler, when I did this on my C last summer the bracket that holds the throw out bearing was allowing it to turn and it was causing all kinds of problems. Had to bend the bracket back into shape and put in a new throw out bearing and it works fine.Hope this helps. My photo is not as detailed as yours but if you look hard you can see the bracket and new bearing ready to go back together.

tyler. in one of your photos it says, pushed the new one in. if so, is it a pilot bearing? and why is it split? or is that the old one getting ready to be pulled out?. just a thought.

Right above the pic with the split bushing, it says that I took a hacksaw blade and cut it to get the old pilot bushing out. By doing this, it relieve the pressure and I was able to pull it out with my finger. I call it a bushing, the book calls it a bearing. I was told by many that it's a good idea to replace the bushing when doing a clutch job. So, for the $6 for the bushing, a new one it is.

Take care,
Tyman

Do you have the old style graphite bearing? Can't tell from pic. Their is a grease zerk on it, so I assume it's supposed to turn. My Super C had frozen up, and took out the pilot bearing. My pilot bearing had worn .150". If you can't get it free, you may have to bite the bullet and get the new style. It's only an extra $130 or so. Let's see what the other guys think....What is that in front of the tractor, patio funiture?..... Dave

Glad you noticed the patio furniture. Mom's car port. She has her vehicle in there during the winter and in the summer she rolls out the carpet and has a nice display of patio furniture thoughout the car port. I got to hurry up or she'll use the Super A as furniture and start setting drinks on it. :-)

Say, those hanging flower planters add a nice touch as well, makes everything kinda "Foofy" dontcha think? I see you went ahead and built a roller stand to help split the tractor, good job. Steve T

Thanks Steve,

That roller stand turned out great. Makes it easier. Still used the backup cribbing.

Take care,
Tyman
