Can't tighten fan belt. Adjustable fan pulley has a hair line crack. That is the threaded side you turn to tighten the fan belt. Can't figure out how to remove threaded side of pulley. I have the radiator & fan blades off. The shop manual I have doesn't help. Will I have to remove the complete water pump to get at the shaft & pulley? Any help/comments will be appreciated.

You don't have to take the pump off, but you need to take the rest of the pulley assy apart. Clean the area off and remove the impeller drive (with the springs behind it) and the packing nut and the large nut. Then the pulley will come off.

Gary - Can you turn the moveable half of the pulley on the adjusting threads? Have you removed the setscrew from the moveable half?

Unless the hub threads are boogered up, you should be able to unscrew the moveable half off the fan hub once you remove the fan blade.
