I need to know what sizes were the original on my '48 H. The rear rims are 11x38" and the fronts are 16" narrow frontend.

Bein' a little older tnan some I can 'member just what came on my uncles new '41 H, it had 10-38 Goodyear Suregrips on the rears and 5.50-16 Goodyear Multiribs on the front. Then in 1950 he traded for a new H and it came with 11-38 Goodrich Traction Grips(I think that's what they called them, they were a check mark tread) on the rears and 5.50-16 Goodrich 5 rib fronts(2 small ribs, 1 big rib, then 2 more small ribs). All the tires were just 4 ply and when he put a new IH loader on the '50 H, he blew both tires the same day, so he got slighlty irate and put 2 new 6.50-16's, 8 ply, on the front(the tractor looked like h--- with the "rollamatic rake". Hope this bit of nostalgia helps you.

I bet the fuel consumption also went up. That H probably thought it was always going uphill. :)

The most common size I have seen for the H is 12.4 x 38 for the mains and 5.50 x 16 for the fronts.

I think most H's had 10 x 38 rims and 10 or 11 x 38 tires. The 11 x 38 rims are a bit unusual for an H I think. That is what is normally on an M. Most Ms have 13.6 x 38 tires (old size 12 x 38).

John, my books tell me the H Farmall came with 10-36 on the back and 600-16 on the front.

Later H's had either 10 X 38 (11.2 X 38 size after 1954) or 11 X 38 (12.4 X 38 post-1954 size) and either 5.50 X 16 or 6.00 X 16 frt tires. The 36 in. rear rim dia. were only used on the early (pre-42)H's, and most have probably been converted over to 38". The wheels are the same, just the rim is diff.
