Located the above today. Was looking for a Cub when stumbled across this. Has hydraulics front & rear, cultivators and sickle mower. Very good shape, clean, good paint, starts right up, no smoke, rebuilt approx. 5 years ago, good rubber. What is a fair price for this and what is this Super A capable of. I know I can get plow, fertilizer sprayer and discs. Did they make a front loader and can they be found? I will need a snow blade which I believe is available. Are there any problems the A's are prone to? Any replies would be appreciated. I am seriously thinking on putting money down today. Thanks for any help. It is appreciated.

Great little tractor ! Check the front corner of the block behind the generator back to the carb . That is where they seem to crack . They will still run regardless! Wagner and henderson both made loaders for it , I have one of each . Paid 500 for the wagner , 175 for the henderson. Would consider selling the henderson , its a manure bucket . Wagner has power dump on the bucket . Downside to the tractor , its hard to steer with a good bucket full . I also have a regular A , and it will pull a two bottom 14 " drag plow in soft dirt without any fluid in the tires . Ivan

Sounds like you found a pretty nice tractor. I have been using a 1948 Super A for about 10 years now and it's a great little tractor, especially for a small farm. This tracotr will pull a 1 bottom plow no problem, have even pulled my 2 bottom 14" plow with it, but not over any really hard to plow soil. It's a pretty good all round tractor. A fair price depends on condition and tooling the guy has with it. Most of the implements are easy enough to find still, but that adds to your overall cost. A couple front loaders were available, I have one made by Henderson Manufacturing co. that works great!!! I use it to clean manure weekly and have had no problems with it. Also put a blade on it and use it for snow in the winter, much better set up than the IH blade as you can pile the snow alot higher!!! As far as problems, check the transmission seals as they tended to leak on alot of them. There are small holes in the bottom of the tranmission case and you can see if oil is dripping out of them. An easy enough fix to install seals. Thats about all the problems I have had with mine to speak off. Well hope that helps you a little. I have been farming with mine and find it a great all round tractor. I also have an H which I use to do any really heavy work, but wind up using the SUPER A more often. Good luck!

if you found a SUPER A with front and rear hy you have found a keeper they did not make such a thing better check and see what you were looking at you must have found something else if you knew anything about a SA you would know they didnot have a front and rear hy the hy system was a rockshaft type assy under the gas tank driven by a pump below the dist or mag which ever system it uses for ignition two tubes run back to the cast unit under the gas tank over the years things have been changed on all tractors but you do not have a front and rear hy system beetter know what you are buying as someone is selling something that does not exist you are not the first one that doesent know what you are getting into better get someone who is very informed on a SUPER A

do you consider a rockshaft hydraulics the rear rockshaft on a SA was used to lift the moldboard plow either a single bottom or a two-way

The Super A will do more than twice as much as a cub. Yes there was a front loader for the A. I've only seen one in my 60 years. What is it worth. That depends on the condition and where you are. Here in East Tenn, probably at least $3500 for what you describe. I guess the biggest weak point is the steering. Most of them have a lot of play in the steering. Also, look at the block behind the carburator. If it ever froze, that's where it cracks out. Not uncommon to find them welded there. Also, the brakes are not too good. Very good tractor, and lots are still in use.
