At our local shopping mall here in Newark Ohio, they are having a tractor show honoring our beasts of burden. So my wife and I went over and I viewed the tractor while she shopped ( a perfect family outing :-) ). Anyways the show had a few COOP's, some AC's, your usual alotment of Ford's, a couple of C's and a cub and of course a huge field of Green machines of all makes and sizes :-( ..... Well I saw a group of gentlemen with Green caps on, so I mingled in with them and listened to them telling stories of how their JD kicked a International's butt, etc.. After a few minutes of listening to this, I camly said "Nice show guy's, but wheres the Red Tractor's? --- INSERT VERBAL INSULT RESPONSES HERE ---- Oh thats right it's plowing season - and those tractors are still useful, I guess we'll have to have another show next winter when there not being used." Needless to say I got a few choice words out of that comment. Sorry for the long winded posting, but I had to confess....

Gibby - You found out the hard way about those jd people. I've seen posts on THIS IHC Forum asking advice because no one on the jd forum would answer their question. I checked it out once. I think the guy called himself "Mr Answer-Man" or something. What an attitude! Guess it proves that if you bury your head in the sand far enough You Can think your the greatest thing on the planet. I guess the real proof was the actual production/sales numbers of IHC verses jd on a cummulative basis. On the Red Power Forum there was a thread a couple weeks ago that IHC made something well over 5 million tractors, and to date, jd has only made something like 3-1/2 million. As I've told anyone Who'd listen, "Some of the worst Days of My Life have been spent on a jd!"

If you want to see some grief from a JD owner, check out the JD discussion board. A guy new to the board was asking a question about paint and spelled deere wrong. He got a lot more replies giving him grief for the spelling than he did for the question.

If memory serves, the five millionth IHC tractor came off the assembly line in the early 1970s. It's in a museum somewhere in the Midwest. I think the two millionth D**r* came off the assembly line in 1992. If anyone ever passes the IHC production record, it will be far off in the future.

Been here in Tex almost a week. Only thing I've seen so far is a Ford 8N & a J.D.

Made arrangements to see a collection of Reds.

Confession is good for the soul. Go ye and sin no more, at least until you've had a cup of coffee and another chuckle...

Daddy, why are John Deere's green?

So they can hide in the grass, son.

Jim at the top of the forum, hit the arrow right of the "select another forum". You will see the various forums appear. Slide the bar down and you will see Tractor Tales towards the bottom. Select it and hit go. Or just punch below.
