I am currently looking at a 53 cub. It is in pretty good shape, tires are there but will be needed soon, has plow, cultivators and discs. New to tractors but like the looks. Runs good and starts right up. Can hook up PTO and setup for battery/starter. Any ideas what it is worth in southern Michigan? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey George, that was a great picture of one ugly cub! I have seen many of these ugly cubs that never die...They just keep going and going. How about you telling us how to put a picture on and we have a day of ugly cubs! Give us some time to find one to take pictures of though. I know of one in town that may be uglyier than that one!

You are in luck for an answer. I just purchased a 1953 Cub TODAY. It has turf tires on rear, straight tin, good paint(3 year old), and a five foot Wood's belly mower with new blades and old spares. $1500.00 with free delivery from an hour away. I'm in southern Wisconsin. PS, I have it sold already for $2500.

The fellow is asking $1900 and he sounds pretty firm. I am now researching costs for tires and motor rebuild parts if needed in future. I think the price is probably fair as it appears to be in pretty good shape and I can do a lot of the restoration myself. Thanks for the replies. Any more suggestions or ideas...let me know.

Look for casting cracks and repairs. Depending on where a crack is, you may not want it. Look especially around the casting that is the base of the radiator - in front. Robert

third party image

Here's a twist for you...pick a number between 1500 and 3000. If you OWNED the tractor, would you rather have it or the number of dollars? The lowest number that fits is what it should be worth to you. Offer that...you can't lose either way.

"The World's Ugliest Cub" is a 1953, and it is priceless!

These are nimble fun little tractors for small acreage. Price depends on lots of things and can range from $1000-$3000. Check out photo ads and compare prices. I had one with a 4ft flail mower and it worked great-especially for steering around trees. Good luck

Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. Just evaluate the tractor. If it looks good to you, it doesn't matter what eveyone else thinks. Weigh the cost compared to what you want it to do. If it will do it, then hang the cost.
