I am considering an IH666 diesel with a canopy for $4000. I do not know any thing about these tractors and would appreciate any and all info. What should I look for? I am told every thing works and has a good TA. E-mail is j4jrevels9@cs.com

We have a Farmall 666 diesel and it is a good tractor. The TA is nice as it gives you 10 forward and 2 reverse gears. $4000 would be a very good price for a nice 666.

I f this tractor has a good engine this is a steal; even if the tires and paint are not good.the TA is not all that expensive either.

So what if the TA is out. How many of you need 16 gears for the kind of work a 666 does? I could get by fine with just 8 speeds. I wouldn't bother fixing it. The TA is nice to use every once and a while when it is working, but not a nescesity as some may think it is.

A 666 is mostly a 656 restyled and that is good because the 656 had a long production run of 8 years. A smart company does not mess with something that works well. If you take the 656 start date and the 686 end they were made from 1965 to 1980!
