How many gallons of gasoline does an M Farmall take to plow per acre? 3-16 plow.

And disc? 10-foot tandem disc.

THANK YOU

You'll have to refuel at lunch plowing but should go all day with a 9-ft disc. If you are discing light enough to pull in 3rd you could go all day with a 10 ft disc too.

Check the Nebraska tests for hp-hr/gal, then assume 35 hp pulling it's guts out and 20 hp under light load. It is hard to get the ground conditions right to actually consume 35 hp with an M.

Fuel consumption will normally range from 1.5 gal per hr unloaded to 3.5 gal per hr fully loaded.

Leroy, Especially for plowing it would depend on what kind of ground your turning over. Clover sod probably is the worst next to pasture land. As far as discing with the 10' tandem, I'd guess 2.5-3 GPH in 3rd gear.

How many acres can I plow in an hour with a 3-16 plow in 3rd gear? The soil had beans in last year.

In sandy loam I have to use 2nd gear with 3-14's. I average about an acre an hour in small fields (5-10 acres).

IH ads claim 12 to 18 acres per day. For a 12 hr day, 18 would be 1.5 acres/hr. Same ad claims the M will disk 30-45 acres per day with a 9 ft disk.
