Way too much $$$$ for a 504. Although the 504 will do what you want it to do, If you are willing to spend that kind of $$$$ you can get a lot more tractor!

I have a 504 with a Great Bend loader and seven foot bucket. I have had it about 15 years. It only works about 100 hours per year. Has good hydraulics. Always starts and runs good. Never bought a part for it. I like the creeper first gear. Even though it is heavily weighted (sixteen wheel weights, loaded tires, and chains, it is nearly impossible to stall out. Nice to know it is worth $5000. I got mine for $1500 at auction.

Seems a bit steep on the price. Pop just got a 504 with a loader for $1800 about 5 mos. ago. It was pretty rough looking as it had a bad home, but otherwise runs OK. The 504 is around 44 horses, but uses the rather smallish H motor displacement. IHC just wound up the R's to get the HP. My brother says the 504 doesn't have much bottom end, but it runs sweet and handles well. I have no seat time on it to render a first hand opinion however.

Pistons or piston kits for 504 gas are not terribly common in the aftermarket. Best to line pistons up before hand. Have heard Allis pistons fit but may be a rumor.
The rest of internal engine parts are not a problem.

The engine is decended from from an A or C. Many parts are interchangeble.
