The clutch on my D4 is slow to disengage. Is there any way to correct the problem?

You should have on the brace collar a funnel 1a1379 and on the floor a oil cup 4b457 for lubrification.

What do yu mean by slow to release, slow to stop turning so you can shift? If so adjust the stop brake
a lot of these old tractor you have to put your foot on the master clutch lever to hold it tight to the brake

You have 3 spring in the pressure cluch when the cluch is is desangaged the springs force the two pressure plate apart and hold them in that position. A brake is provided to bring the rotating cluch shaft to a stop quickly when the cluch is desangaged.

Tom: I am not real familiar with the 7u series but I believe there is a clutch brake. This may need adjusting or repair. Again I'm not familiar with that series so I can't help with the procedure. I'm sure someone will be along with the answer though. Good Luck. Steve.

Tom, Hi i have a D2 4u and a D4 6U which is the same as a 7U only norrower, there is no adjust ment for the fly wheel clutch brake, as the brake pad is bolted to the front of the transmission case and the contact surface is the rear of the sliding collar (throw out part of clutch as) all i can sugest is to remove the top half of the cluch housing and in spect the brake pad and all the link ages for wear. you may have to hold some pressure forward on the clutch lever to get the brake to work with worn linkages, as i have to with me D2. the best picts are the ones in a parts book if you have one avaliable.

regards Gary B
