Both steering clutches went slack at the same time. Tractor still pulls forward and back. Inspection reveals clutch lever linkage is not even touching the clutch pressure plates. Can these plates somehow get stuck? This tractor was operating great until now. Thanks.

Andy ,both clutchpacks are mounted on the same
splined shaft that goes trough the diferential,
and have 2 keepers on each end of the shaft,
behind each clutch.there is a groove on the end
of the shaft apr 1/4 deep .I suspect the keepers came of,or the end of the shaftgroove broke of.

Simon- Thanks for the info on my HD7W. I don't have and probably need a schematic for the cluch packs.
Anyway, it looks like there is a collar on the inside of each clutch that fits on the drive shaft. Between this collar and the clutch, also on the axel is a short piece of threaded pipe that the collar screws into. Question-does this threaded piece also screw into the clutch? Thanks.

the collar has a set screw you loosen then turn one side of the collar hold the other it willscrew together so you can slide the clutch to the center to remove the keepers on the ends of the shaft. you must unbolt the brake drum from the flange to see end fo shaft.the splined shaft slides all the way from left clutch through the bevel gear through the right clutch. i had the steering apart on a HD7 this fall.
