How much steering do the clutches do and how much do the brakes do? Do you always need to use them together? Trying to adjust the clutches which are newly rebuilt and having trouble getting the clutches alone to turn the tractor.Thanks.Have new brakes also.

Put 'er under load. then she'll turn easy, without braking.

For the most part, both clutch and brake need to be used together. Just pulling the clutch lever will stop power to the track, however the other track under power will continue to pull machine forward in almost a straight line. For very gradual turns, often the clutch alone will work but not if you need to turn very sharp at all. At least, that's the way my machine works.

It is all a matter of how much load the tractor is under. If it is pulling something or climbing a hill, the brakes will not be needed. Believe it or not, when going down hill, releasing the left clutch will make it turn right.
