My problem is that the boom will not stay in one position so I am thinking about rebuilding the swing motor or is it a valve problem?. Has anyone done this with sucess? What would it cost? Someone sugested I put a cylinder on it insted.

I"m assuming its the barrel style swing "cylinder"...It won"t hurt to diasassemble and see what condition its in, in there...but usually at this point in time , its usually not pretty....If it swings when it shouldn"t in both directions I"d lean towards the problem being in the swing cylinder..

Single Vane attached to the center spindle...sometimes the vane loosens...creates gouges in the inner diameter of the barrel....but you could be lucky....wont know til its disassembled...
