How can one load a TD6 4cyl on a trailer when the engine is stuck? What vehicle will I need to pull the trailer, and will a 9950lb capacity trailer work? It probably hasn't moved in 3-5 years, uncovered, missing head, cylinders full of HO. All other parts seem to be there. Can one man do it???

You should pull the engine first, sounds like it needs to be pulled anyways. I believe that is like 1200 lbs all by itself. If it has a blade, take that off as well. If the tracks are free, a heavy winch or come along should be able to help you out. If they arent free, you need to put wooden rollers/logs underneath the machine. If you need some engine parts, let me know. I have a bunch of used engine parts lying around. -Greg

Greg, A friend has a 1957 TD6 Drott Skid Shovel, in need of transmission parts/gears/shafts. What do you have besides engine parts? Also, do you know any sources for early-1960s TD20 transmission parts/gears/shafts and front-mount hydraulic pump?

No blade. I was thinkng if I oiled the tracks good and put a winch cable on the far end of each one I could find out if they're free before renting or hiring someone to haul it. My trailer is rated for 7000lbs. I could take it apart and make a couple of trips, but it's 250 miles r/t to a place to park it.

Your best bet is to engage a rollback truck. It will be safer all around & will not damage the equipment. As long as the tracks are free, it will roll off the truck.
