Restoration of my JD430C requires replacing all 20 mechanical grease seals on the 10 roller assemblies. Seeking assistance to locate substitute for JD original part #JDAM2011T (asking $53 Cdn. each). Relative less expensive substitute or aftermarket supplier information would be greatly appreciated.

Tks to everyone who provided input to my problem, especially Tom & Half Track. Unfortunately the best information, Seals for $19.44 Cdn., came to late. Without a known substitute and to avoide the $1200.00 that John Deer wanted to replace the 24 seals, I manufactured my own from 1" tk. ruberized foam material to provide the spring action and seal effect. The outside diameter was designed to provide a snug fit in the end of the roller mounting bracket, this should prevent the one end from turning. On the face of the other end I glued a 1/8" tk. sheet of teflon cut to the same inside and outside diameter as the ruberized foam. No swelling or breakdown of the material occurred when a prototype of this substitute seal was soaked in oil for three weeks. So far so good.
Since most of the bearings and shafts were in rough shape, I pressed substitute oversized brass bushings ($7x2/hub)into the hubs and cut oil groves into them. The shafts were turned and ground for 3 to 5 thou clearance to the oversized bushings. Unfortunatelly some of the ends of the shafts that are normally stationary in the mounting roller bracket, had come loose, had been turning, were worn badly and required the same bushing and machining treatment to provide a snug stationary fit. This all took a great deal of time, money, mfg of special tools to stamp out the foam and teflon etc. Hopefully this should meet the demands that I intend to place on the machine. Probably I should have checked out the cost of complete after market roller assemblies first. Tks again.

Bill: I show a direct cross to a CR809107. Don't know about availability but it's a start.
Good Luck.

Tom,
Called my local CR distributor, he said he didn't show that number, also asked him to cross the AM2011T, his book didn't list it at all. Called a National distributor and asked him to cross the CR number and he said he couldn't. Any ideas? I wouldn't mind finding a cheaper replacement for the factory seal too. I don't know if it is the same thing or not, but if you cross the axle seal number, the seal they give you is a much poorer seal. If I take the number off of the old seal, my National supplier says that he can not buy that seal, National will only sell it to Deere, does that sound right?

Lavoy: Talked to another CR rep and it turns out that the 809107 was manufactured for CAT and is now discontinued and obsolete. As for National only selling to JD, not surprising. Often a manufacturer will enter into an OEM agreement and restrict sales to that dealer. My undercarriage supplier has one with Kobelco and cannot sell rollers etc to me as an aftermarket supplier. Now, back to the seal. I called my seal supplier and asked for roller seals for the JD430C and he can have them for me in a week (about 40 available) and I can sell them for CDN $19.44 each. Not cheap but that's the best I can do.

Bill I was afraid you would say that. I have used cat in place of on some JD's, but they all had 4 stubs. Someone posted CR809107 #. That's not a good # if it refers to BERCO. BERCO doesn't have that many #'s after the 2 letters. What you could do maybe is find a cat seal that you can drill different holes in the end cap to make it work. I'm going to try & see if their is something around. HT

The CR809107 is a DIRECT cross from JD2011T according the the Master Interchange guide. Although the CR prefix in undercarriage generally refers to Berco, in Canada CR is an individual seal brand like National. If this information is incorrect, you have my humblest apologies.

Hey Tom, I'm use to BERCO #'s. That's why I put if you were referring to BERCO knowing other #'s where also out there. Sorry I left the thought it was all wrong. But I'm also fining out that national might make them. So thanks for your post. HT
