For a JD 350b, what type lube do you use for this machine? Every manufacture in the world will recommend "their" oil, suggesting there is no other oil to use. The suggestions are: * motor oil: SAE 30 * transmission & hydraulic: JD 303 * track oil: JD Track lube What are some good equialents to use? Thanks, MrBill

For the motor any good diesel motor oil will do. At the dealership we used the Deere oil (made by Shell as I recall) but also used Quaker State HDX and Rotella 15W-40. HDX is lower detergent than the others and we liked to use it in engines with questionable service histories that might be dirty inside. 303 oil was replaced by Hygard as I recall; any good combination tractor transmission and hydraulic oil will do. Track and roller grease, as the other guy said, is obsolete through Deere. One reason probably being that they don't sell greasable bottom rollers any more. As for the front idler ??? I've been using regular EP grease for my adjusters and front idlers and haven't noticed any ill effects.

In the engine, run a good multi-weight like Shell Rotella T, Mobil 1300, etc. 303 fluid is a common systems (multi-trans) fluid, they no longer use that designation for it, but Deere has the modern equivalent, as will any big name oil commercial oil supplier. Track and roller grease is obsolete from Deere, the closest equivalent from Deere would be corn head grease. There are aftermarket suppliers that make track and roller grease, but I don't know who they are. Lavoy
