Some friends and I have been wanting to restore a small antique crawler. We've located an Allis Chalmers M. Is this a good candidate for first crawler? Or, should we look for other models/makes. I'm restoring a '49 AC model B at this time and for no other reason I just like the looks of the AC model M. But, I don't want to purchase something that I'm not going to be able to get parts for. Everyone's opinion would be greatly appreciated.

I have a great crawler that is in excellent condition that I would sell. It is a 1948 US Trac Model 10. I would sell it to someone who would restore it to original condition. Please contact me if interested. Thanks, Brad

The M was a real good tractor and needs to be preserved. There seems to be quite a few around and not too many being restored. Parts may be hard to find. I would start out by picking up several so you have your own source of parts. I have 2 that i hope to make into one good one someday. The Model M replaced the horse for farming hills in this area. they were a real high performance tractor for their time and quite economical too.
