I have a MF-40 backhoe. The bottom pin on the dipper arm broke. I can have this pin made my question is that the old pin had a hole in it in the middle of the pin through the pin from side to side of the pin. Does anyone know if this hole has a purpose and if so is it important. Any help with this will be appreciated. Thanks Allen T.

sounds like a place for grease to get out to grease bushing, the old pin didn't have a grease fitting in it did it?

No grease fitting was in it when it came out and where the hole is it is not sealed you can see the pin except out at the ends where it goes through the dipper on both sides . it also goes through 2 ears on the tractor right below the circular cylinder but is open in the middle.

Dont know then, would be hard to say without seeing it, may be someone changed the pin before you got it and just used what they could find, if there is nothing in the hole and no obvious use for it I would say it wasn't needed.
