I am looking to buy a dozer to rebuild and then dig a pond with. Do any of you have any preferences as to which one to get. I don't have any experiance dozers so I need some help. Like which ones would be the easiest ones to rebuild and which ones will do the most work. If any of you know where I can get one, please let me know. I am in Central Ohio.

Andrew, The other guys are right that you may be better off to rent or if you do buy get the best machine you can afford. Buying cheap and fixing is usually more expensive, not to mention the investment of time. For everything you can see that is wrong there's bound to be some hidden problems as well. Grainger tractor is near Medina, I've stopped there and they are quite accomodating. Check out rockanddirt.com, machinerytrader.com etc. to get a feel for prices and availability. Good luck.

Not tryen to be smart but for what you are going to spend on buying a used dozer and fixen on it and all the work that is involved why don't ya just rent a dozer for a mounth and when you are done ya send it back and you have had your fun and you got off cheep.

Andrew, If you want to get a dozer to dig a pond i would sudjest getting a dozer that is in good working order unless you want something to fix and cost you a tone of money.. you can get a decent 450 JD in good working order with decent undercarriage for around 8 to 10 k.. if you get a old worne out dozer 450 JD then you can expect to put 3 to 4 k in the engine and another 3500 into the undercarriage and who knows what else you may need, stearing clutches?? brakes?? radiator>?? best to get one already fixed..
