(1938 Case L Zenith Carb)

I am trying to fix a zenith carb with a sticky needle assembly. The carb kit says turn upside down and "measure 1 3/4" from machined surface to "point of float". Where should this measurement be taken.

Any other suggestions to stop the float needle from sticking in the seat?

Thanks

I would say that it is the bottom of the float. 1 3/4 in. would be about right for that. I would replace the valve if its sticking that's a small cost and usely clears it right up.

I am not sure if it will work on your tractor, but on my SC I was able to buy a rubber tipped needle valve at a lawnmower shop for my SC carb. It was about $1.50 and is the type used on the Briggs and Stratton float carbs. Just bring your needle valve in and you can compare them before you buy. I had to file it just a hair on the 3 sides to get it small enough to fit in the seat, but otherwise it works great, is cheap and seals better than the metal tipped type.
