I have a 1030 that seems to sip fuel. Very economical for the work it will do.

Simple, tough and reliable tractors. Usually inexpensive to boot.

If I'm not mistaken, the 401 diesel on the Case 930 held the fuel economy record for a period of time. I know dad's 930 never burned 5 gal/hr loaded with a 15 foot offset disc. The old thing is about worn out now and still don't burn too much. It held 92 hp on the dyno about a year ago on 540 PTO rpm. These old tractors have lots of guts and they're tough as nails.

Most of our family farmed with IH but Uncle Mike always said that Dad's SC was the most economical tractor when compared to his IH C or M and Grandpa's H Farmalls. I have heard other older farmers comment that Case always seemed to build the most economical horsepower for fuel used tractors. In comparison, nobody wants the cost to put fuel in a JD4020 gas and IH 706/806 gas Farmalls were pretty thirsty too. Diesels probably did better.
