A fellow is advertizing a Case 830 for sale :$2,000.00, as is. Says the motor runs good but no high range in transmission. Is it worth fooling with?

We have a Case 830 Diesel Duel Range. Has two shifters, one is for regular shifting, the other is high-start-low. They out there, they say "Duel Range" on the side instead of "Case-O-Matic" Personally I like out 800 Case-O-Matic better, but it has been redone. The tranny is untouched though.

Depends on alot of things. What year, type of engine, wide vs. narrow front, sheet metal, tires/rims, is it totally worn out, Case-o-matic versus dry clutch as others have said ect ect. the area will dictate prices somewhat as well depending on how strong the local dealers were and how popular Cases were. .... all depends. good luck and have fun looking.

problem could be in the hi-lo range and not the converter, doesn't take much of a 730-830 to bring $2000.00

I'm no expert on tractor values, but I'd say no. If it's a case-o-matic, that'll hurt the value even more--even if it performs properly. I have an 830 with the com and think it's great, but they just aren't "worth" much. To be worth that much with a known problem, it would need to be diesel and a comfort king. I'd love to hear I'm wrong, but that's my opinion.

Is the tractor gas or diesel? I assume it is case-o-matic. Meaning the direct drive doesn't work. If it is an early one I would be interested, but 2000 seems pretty high unless it has good metal and nearly new rubber. Let me know the specifics on it and it will be easier to guess a good price to start from. I am interested if it is a low tin diesel case-o-matic.
