Hi.Does anyone know how much oil a 1929 C case takes in the engine crankcase?
I don"t have a book and I want to change the oil.I have a drain plug on the bottom.Next up is a small plug.It took 4 quarts to get to this plug.Next up is a larger plug. What are the two top plugs for.Oil level I assume, but I don"t know which one.Thanks.

I think the reason for the two check plugs goes back to the distillate/kerosene era. When burning low-cost fuel, at the end of each day you were supposed to drain the oil to the level of the lower plug, and then top off with new oil to the level of the upper plug, to counteract oil dilution. Then, you were supposed to replace the oil in the air cleaner with the oil you drained from the engine.

Bottom plug is your drain, When you fill it back up take out the middle and upper plugs, fill through the upper plug until it comes out the middle plug... middle plug is there so you can't over fill it!!!

Do you fill to the top one and the after it's run you use the middle one as a level?I did drain the clutch housing and did get a quart out of it.

I wouldn't say so.. after it runs out the middle plug you're done!!! It only needs enough oil to lubricate the bearings, you don't need to fill the whole case up... remember that oil expands when it warms up!!!

there should be three plugs, top one is oil level dont forget to drain the clutch houseing also and add a quart for that, it will fill when engine is runing
