I have a 480C. Over the last year, it's gone thru 2 hydraulic pumps, the last one lasted only 2 weeks and had about 20 hours on it. The splines on the shaft are stripped, as if it failed under a heavy load. Before installing the last pump, I checked the housing for cracks and checked all bolts for proper torque. Is there a relief valve that can cause an unusually heavy load on the pump and premature failure? Any ideas?

The hydraulic relief is in the loader control valve and should be set at 2000 PSI. There is always some wear in the splines and coupling, but not as bad as you're describing. To fail so quickly means something is wrong with the alignment between the crank pulley and the hydraulic pump or the coupling parts are so badly worn that they all need to be replaced. A worn part against a new part can cause the new part to fail quickly.
