Wondering if you guys can help. I've been helping an nieghbor fix his 830, it was (last summer) blowing water out of the rad, so we figured either a head gasket or a liner cracked, as it turned out it was the liner. We've put it back together and it ran great for 3 or 4 minutes then blew water everywhere. It's probably about 3 times worse than it was before. Does anyone have any ideas before we start tearing it apart again. We only repalce the one liner, the others all looked to be in good shape, with no obvious sign of damage. Thanks. oj in Mb

Thanks guys, no we didn"t check the counter bores, we"ll have to do that this time. I know that the tractor had been started with either before, so who knows what that did. The heads apeared in good condition, but we just eye-balled them, so there may still be something wrong.

I agree with DKase, my counterbores were too low, had them cut and shimmed them. Counter bore wear can contribute to liner failure. Some one please come up with a good starting aid along with the pre heater and a tank heater. We have used either for years, haven't wrecked anything yet and will continue to do so.

My guess is this tractor has been Ether'd. Did you check the Heads for cracks?

Did you service the counter bores in the block?
