Well fellas, here she is at last. (Hope the picture works since I haven't posted one before.) The top is the first time I saw it about 3 1/2 years ago. The bottom is the first drive last week. I was pretty much like a kid on Christmas morning. Needless to say my DC never would have happened without DCTom, John Saeli, DonL, F-I-T, and all the rest of you guys at this board who offered advice, techniques and sources. My sincerest thanks to you all. It also wouldn't have happened without Ken & Kenny Kroschel- two of the best mechanics/ tractor guys i know. So now its time for 4th of July and the fair and rodeo etc. I figure it had a hard enough life the first time round...

Did your"s have a chrome strip on the hood sides? I couldn"t tell from your pictures. I have an unrestored, but running, "42 DC. It does have the chrome, but I"ve never seen another one with it. I know they dropped the chrome during the war.

You're right Joe- It did have one strip left on one side of the hood when I got her though it was too far gone to be saved. But someday in the future she might get some new chrome again.

Very Nice! What year is that tractor? We had a '41. Glenn

Guess it probably looks real familiar then, since mine's a '41 as well.

Ya know, I'd like to say it looks like the hard part is over, but I think the hard part is just beginning. You did such a beautiful job refurbishing that tractor, that the "hard part" of keeping it clean and scratch free is just beginning...(grin)..
In all seriousness, though. Congratulations on a beautiful job, well done. And have fun enjoying it every chance you get.

The paint is PPG. And in truth- Ken & Kenny did the paint and all of the really hard stuff & deep engine work. I corralled parts for a couple years, scrubbed and de-rusted (with F-I-T's electrolysis technique) for a couple years, rebuilt the mag, starter, head etc, but they were the ones that ran with everything and brought all my research and prep work together in a way that I never could have. The whole process has been an absolute blast- (and in large part because of the friends made along the way.) I already want to do another one- but with a new daughter and an increasingly busy day job that may have to wait a while... I'd like to do an old farm truck/ tractor hauler someday too! Typical me- lots of great ideas and not enough spare time & spare cash for toys!

You're SO right Walt! There were more than a few times when I had parts going all over the garage and I'd get a little scared of what I'd started and wonder if I'd ever get it all back together and done. Definitely a real good exercise in finishing what i started- and maybe the scary parts make finishing it that much sweeter.

Nice tractor finished up real well - ending a simular tear down on a 1210 DB - not the old school but they are a job and a half...
