I am trying to acquire an old 62 Case 830 that was my grandpa"s. My Aunt is willing to sell it but she has no idea what price is fair(she says around $1000). This tractor has been sitting in a barn for 15 years. My brother removed the heads and had them rebuilt but never reinstalled them. It appears the cylinders are in pretty good shape even though they have been uncovered. The tires are in decent shape and all the parts are there. It is an LP row crop. Any ideas on a price? Help is appreciated. Thank you

Hey, I'd press 10 $100. bills in her hand right away for an 830. If it is what you want, and being family makes it special to you, that is a good buy. A few years back, I drove 4 hrs to an auction that had a 830 diesel with wfe and com. It was in real nice condition. Sold for 5200. I think the ole guy who bought it knew the former owner, he stayed with every bid. So get it running and have fun.

1000 bucks probably isn't bad...seeing how you know the tractor. Otherwise when I'm interested in buying a tractor that is torn apart I base the price on good parts on it and the tires...good luck and hope that helps.

Bice,
My brothers wanted $1500 for dad's gas '64 gas 830 row crop. Bad tires, approx 6000 hrs, heads rebuilt by my brother cause of burned valves. Runs & starts great but needs a lot of sheet metal work. Clamshell fenders are perfect cause dad never used em. $1000 probably isn't a bad price for yours. I outlasted my brothers by saying nobody would give them even $500. They are both farmers with not much nostalgia in their veins. Last Christmas they gave it to me. Said I'm doing a good job on dad's LA. Maybe there is some nostalgia there:). Try working that angle.
Good luck!
Steve
