I have a 1968 Selectamatic 990 out in the pasture with alders growing up through it (sad I know but there may be hope yet). Had inquiry today as at wheter the crank would fit a 197? 995? This is the second crank that this person has replaced, broke at the pulley. If the cranks are interchangeable, this could at least keep 1 more running instead of 2 scraped.

BTW what are the big differences between the 990 and the 995 and what other cranks might fit the 996?

Thanks so much for putting up with my curiosity

The 990 had a 4 inch stroke, and the 995 had 4 1/2. The crank from the 990 will work in the 995, but you have to put the 990 pistons in as well. You will lose hp though. Cranks from the 1200, 1210, 1290, 1294, 1390, and 1394 will fit. I have a crank here if you can't find what you want. The aftermarket companies can't seem to come up with a crank that will stay together. If i replace cranks in DB's i will only use a DB crank.

Thanks.

Sounds like he should look for a different crank. I don"t think it is worth that hassle with the engine I have. I was kinda hangin" on to it for spare parts to the engine in the 990 Implematic I have runing.
