Jerry, I was told there is supposed to be a spring in there someplace also. Ever see where that goes? I know there was none when I took it apart. Dave S

there is no spring in the governor there is a spring on the linkage from the governor to the throttle lever. The throttle lever pulls on this spring to set the speed of the engine the governor pulls against the spring to shut the engine back down to idle. Its the two opposing forces that set the speed of the engine.
