case 300 remote hydraulic question

I tried posting this a few weeks ago but must have done something wrong. When I went to use my remote hydraulics for the first time, I had problems. The double acting cylinder raised the load fine but when I released the lever, the load drifted back down quickly. Does it sound like the problem is in the control valve for the remote hydraulics? Could it have anything to do with the interlock block? Looking at my manual, I don't see any seals or o-rings to go bad inside the valve. It just mentions too much of a worn chamfer on the spool can cause problems. I wanted to get some info before I tear it apart. My eagle hitch works and hold position fine. Are new or rebuilt valves available and where? Are there kits to rebuild them? Thanks for the help. I hope to help someone else out some day when I get enough experience with this tractor.

You may want to see if the same problem occurs with a different tractor. It may be that the problem is in the cylinder and not the tractor. Sometimes cylinders leak internally from one side of the double acting cylinder to the other.

I'm pretty sure its not the cylinder leaking. My neighbor uses the implement once in a while and didn't have problems. But to be on the safe side, I'll see if he can hook up to it and verify that the cylinder maintains position.

Any other ideas? Valve rebuild, new valve, interlock? Thanks.

No. I personally would try the interlock first. Good Luck.
