Hydralic Question for Elmer and Barry

I'm having a problem with the hydralics on my DP 885. It has plenty of pressure on the right side for rear attachments, but on the left side it doesn't have any pressure to operate the front end loader or 3 pt. lift. We drained the fluid and cleaned the filter which was completely gummed up and refilled with fresh hyd. oil. What might be the problem? Any help would be greatly appricated.

On the right side, I assume you have D/A slice or two. These 'live' hydraulics are direct from the pump [and relief valve]. Your 885 would have a paper hyd filter + screen in the end of it?? You should not clean the paper one, replace it. The hydraulics at the left are fed from the valve chest inside the rear axle case behind the hyd quadrant lever. Behind the lever, on top of the rear axle case is a kidney shaped plate held with two screws. Remove plate. There will be two plugs with screwdriver slots. Start with the plug nearest the RH guard. Remove plug & spring. Using a screwdriver 'hook' out the hollow by-pass valve. With the fuel stop in STOP, turn the engine over on the key, oil will come out the port [flushing the port]. Then, holding the valve, unscrew the brass screw inside. Under this is a alloy washer with a pinhole in it. Clean washer and make sure you can see through it. There may be a nylon gauze under the washer, clean this. Assemble and recheck. If the washer gets blocked or the by-pass valve sticks open [up] there is no rear hydraulics [all Selectamatics, 90 & 94 series]. If you still have problems let me know where you are up to and I will explain more.
Barry.

I did what you suggested and it worked for about 2 minutes than it quit again. I repeated the process with no success. I also replace the hyd. filter like you suggested. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like an open relief valve.
