It seems discussions get lost when they leave the front page....John Saeli and Camboted were telling me about bearings and shims in the steering "gearbox" of a CASE SC. How does one access these shims? I don't suppose I will be lucky enough to simply remove the three bolts at the base of the steering shaft and go from there...? The tractor is still at my brother's house 20 miles from here but I'll be bringing it home soon. Thanks, Glenn

Glen, before you get too deep try removing steering arm and turn steering wheel until you have turned the shaft 180 degrees, Then reinstall the steering arm and you will probably have a tight steering system again. You are just operating on the other half of the steering gear. I wish IH had thought of putting in a whole sector gear instead of a half and you could fix them a lot easier.
