I just inherited a Case side delivery hay rake on steel that my Grandpa bought new in 1950. I am planning on restoring it. There are parts of the paint that are left but I am wondering what colors it should be... My dad seems to remember that it was red with green trim... Shouldn't it be Flambeau???

With the help of a fifty-year-old Kodachrome and a memory that's older than that by several years, let's see what I can do.

My dad bought a Case rake about the same time, and I have a photo taken in 1955. It's small in the photo, but by blowing it up in Photoshop I think I can tell what the colors were:

Red: Major frame parts & tongue, rake bar assembly
Yellow: Wheels
Green: hubs, axle, gearbox, levers, and the cage assembly around the rake bars, both the angle irons and the bows.

That is the monster!! I just extracted it out of the barn yesterday where it has sat for 35+ years.. the major colors I can see but the wheels were giving me a problem...I can see on yours that they must have been Desert Sunset but am confused, I thought Case didn't use Desert Sunset until 1955.. I will keep digging, I have a 211B that is ahead of the rake in line for resto

John; I need a few of the bands that are around the basket, and a few teeth. Mine has stood in the trees so I can tell what the colors were. Do you need the part numbers, or measurements, or do you know which length goes in which position? DK PS Any luck with the plow tail wheel? DK
