Reverse gear out on case 430 tractor

I have a problem with my Case 430 LCK tractor not having reverse gear. I was grading some crushed concrete (1's and 2's, in a hurry, using the differential lock repeatedly for more traction.)

All of a sudden with no noise or warning, when I moved the gear shift lever into reverse, nothing--no reverse. Forward gears work, but no reverse.

I thought it may be the manual clutch partially engaged (or disengaged)or the lever that controls the 3 speeds: H, L or D (I guess High, Low or Direct)possibly slipping to a neutral position.

However, I just read on another website that I may have violated several deadly sins when operating a Case tractor: I was jamming my foot down on the differential lock pedal while moving and I was shifting rapidly from forward to reverse, and we have had an oil leak of hydraulic/transmission fluid.

I am hoping that no serious damage occured and that maybe there is some simple fix. Any ideas.

(Our nearest and best Case tractor repair facility is backlogged over 2 weeks and trying desparately to hire a new tractor mechanic.)

(I sent essentially this same message in a reply to another member asking about his manual clutch lever, but thought I should post this as a stand alone question.)

Same thing happened to me once, only I was trying to mow around a high line pole with a rotary mower. A lot of forward and back shifting, and then all of a sudden, nothing.
Turned out to be a busted shift fork under the transmission cover. Good luck!
