I usually hang out over on the red side, but I recently came across 2 case tractors for sale as a package deal.

One was a '41 VC with a Continental flat head. It has checked tires, but they're holding air. It has a hand and foot throttle and a rear pto and side belt pulley. According to the seller it ran when it was last parked, but doesn't start now. He says the engine still turns ok though.

The second tractor is a '44 VAC with a Case engine and basically flat tires all around. It has a rear and side pto along with hydraulics. The engine on this tractor is stuck.

Overall, the VC is probably ok except maybe needing tires in the near future. The VAC is pretty much shot. If it can be unstuck it still needs tires all around...and who knows what other problems could pop up.

Like I said, I'm used to the red tractors, so I don't know a whole lot about these models as far as history and pricing goes...

So what do you think this pair might be worth?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I own 2 V series and 3 va series, I gave 700.00 for 1 of My V Series not running, but an hour after getting it home I fired it up and drove it off the trailer and am tickled to death with it. Just keep in mind I gave 700.00 for it because I wanted it, not so much that it was worth it.But now it's running like a champ,

Thanks for the input so far. I figured I would ask all of you for your opinion before throwing out the number that I paid.

I ended up getting the pair of them for $800. Overall I don't think that was too bad, although its probably at the higher end of what they are worth? Here is the actual description from the seller:

"We have here two case tractors The first one is a VC ser # VC4524648 My book makes it a 1941. The tractor ran when it was parked I don't know how long it was parked but judging from the size of the mouse nest in the battery box it has been several years. The motor turns by hand and looks complete so I don't think it would take much to get it running. The tin work is beautiful I did not see any rot holes on the hood grill or fenders There is alittle surface rust here and there but it wouldn't take mutch to get a real nice coat of paint on this tractor. The seat has some holes there is some weld under the shifter, the steering is tight (has no play), the front rims are cast the tires are ok, The rear rims are beautiful the tires are 9.5 x 32 and have some cracks one has a slow leak. The tractor has a foot throttle and a hand throttle, rear and belt PTO . The engine is a flat head continental it needs a muffler and there is some weld on the manifold. Overall this is a really nice tractor. It wouldn't take mutch to restore, and the VC is one of the nicest models out of all the old Case tractors."

"The second tractor I belive is a VAC the ser # tag is missing so I am not 100% sure. I don't have mutch history on this one. the front tires are flat, the back rims are good the tires are 11 x 28 one is flat and is bad the other one has cracks. This one has a Case engine. It has a rear and side PTO and hydraulics."

I don't think you did too badly on the purchase price. I think the VC's will start becoming more in demand and bringing a higher price as a collectors' item. I also have some Farmalls, but like hanging out on the Case Forum better.

Ryan

Never been around many VC's but VAC's are great little tractors. I am the guy that left the first comment on those tractors about the year of the VAC. It has to be a mid to late 1944 because early 44 still had the steering arm coming out the front of the bolster like the VC does and in late 44 they take the "points" away from the top corners of the grill and cowl panels.

Hey, don"t knock those little Case tractors to hard. They may not be worth much as antiques, but they are a great little tractor for work and play. I would love to have a VC to add to my 4 VACs,1 VAI,1 VA, and 4 VAC parts tractors. I know the ones without an Eagle Hitch are not worth as much, but they do make fun play toys, and isn"t that just what alot of this tractor thing is about, Big Boys Play Toys!!!! Go for it if you need a new challenge, but if you are in it to make money pass it up.

Well....

Neither one has a 3 point, or a wide front, or live hydraulics... so there probably never going to see a lot of hard work in the future. So the only one interested is someone parting them out, or wanting to restore for an antique. Neither one of them is so rare as to make it a find.

The VC is older, and a bit more rare, so I can see it making maybe $500. However, the VAC would have to be running with tires that hold air to get that much. I'd say it's worth 300 in its current state.

$500 each. Not worth driving very far to haul for most people.
