Yesterday I was doing nothing and the sun came out so I went out and worked on the Case LA. I first took the cover plate off the engine and then set it up on Number 1 top dead center. I then marked the pulley and the front cover on the crank. I then measured the distant around the Pulley hub and then divided it up to get 30 degrees Its real easy when the hub measures 12 in. giggle. Marked that point, now I have everything I need to set the mag timing up at 30 degrees full RPM. Don't forget to pull the mag advance all the way back. With my trusty timing light I then set the mag at 30 degrees full advance. Then I took it out and pulled up Fishback hill she ran beautiful all the way to the top. The next thing is to tie her down and see just how much pulling power I have gained it should be pretty good because I was only running about 20 degrees advance before this.
You can do this almost on any old tractor and it sure makes it easy to time them. Anyway Its alway fun to take the Ol' LA out for a good run up the big hill.
