How do you guys get 35 HP out of the Vac's that the guys keep talking about?

35 is easy and cheap.

$400 or so for a 3.4375" piston/sleeve kit, shave .125" off the head, match ports to gaskets, and you should be close to 30. Make sure the governor internals are all working right, change the governor spring to .082" wire diameter, drill out the main jet a bit, put it on a dyno to tune the carb and timing and you should be there.

I put a G159 camshaft in mine awhile back. Haven't had it on the dyno since but I expect to see another 4-5hp from that.

There's more in there if you want to spend some $$$.
