I know nothing about Case tractors but have been offered a vac propane very cheap and was wondering if it is rare at all and what the value would be if restored. Thanks

I made a VAC LP out of a 1946 basket case I had. I took an Oliver setup and it puts out about 35hp with the head shaved. It took me about a year to get all the parts to look good enough to have people ask me if it was factory or not. If it looks good, and even better if it runs, buy it. My uncle worked for a propane dealer in the 40's-60's, and he said they did some propane conversions with generic kits you could buy to retrofit just about anything with an engine as long as they offered a kit for your engine size.

Do you think you can get 35 HP on gas? What needs to be done? Mine could use another 15 HP!!

Gotta be a conversion. In the Flambeu era CASE only made factory bits for the LA and D series.

To be a era correct conversion it should have either Ensign or Century carburation.

How well was the rest of the conversion performed. I have seen some real hatchet jobs and some done with quite a lot of care.

Would be something different. In my opinion the period correct modifications is something that is being grossly overlooked at shows and will someday be sought after. Come to think of it if you opt out and it is as cheap as you indicate let me know I may come get it if it isn't to far from NW IA.
