So I get my 580CK with the power shuttle all back together before the first snow. I went after the storm and did a one half hour clean up and all went well. On my next day off I went to do some scraping down. After about an hour I noticed it took forever to go from forward to reverse. Then all of a sudden it would barely crawl. I was afraid to leave it down below for fear that even when it cooled down it would still not move. It has all new Case Hy Trans oil and a brand new filter. I did not see any hoses collapsed. Does this sound like a pump/relief valve issue or power shuttle plates? Where do I start with my gauges? HELP!

If you want to know where to plug in gauges and check pressures, best use the book. But, there are few problem areas to check on the 580CK. First, the linkage on the hydraulic valve that is connected to the clutch pedal. When it gets worn, or the spring gets stretched, the valve does not fully open when the clutch pedal comes up - and then the machine will barely shift from forward to reverse. Second - the torque-converter pump has two problem areas. One is the tiny little screen on the bottom of the pick-up tube - it tends to get plugged. When it does get plugged, the machine shifts very slowly. Also, the key on the drive-gear for the pump tends to get loose and finally shear. When that happens, the machine won't move at all.
