I posted a question last week about the governor not working correctly. There was a reply to check the governor springs. Is there a spring behind the governor shaft (inside the engine)?

Thank you.

No internal spring(s) in the governor. The "governor" spring is the one that attaches the right side governor arm to the governor (throttle) rod. There is a spring back under and hooks to the battery tray and attaches to the foot/hand throttle pivot lever on the right side of the tractor. If you have a hand throttle also there is a spring aft of the hydraulic filter. The only other spring in the throttle linkage is the one that provides tension on the hand throttle friction disc.

Joe, thanks for the information. I found the spring under the battery tray, it is not hooked to anything that moves. I do not see anything that it should be attached to. More information as to what it hooks to would be great.

Thanks
Brian

Brian, is the tractor 56-57 roundnose or 58-59 B model? I can copy & mail exploded parts view from the parts manual and some adjustment info from the service manual.
