380 L/L won't move...

Hi All,
I have recently purchased a 380 L/L Construction King that runs but doesn't move. I have another post that asks for help in identifying the year as well. Seems the tool box and main serial # tag are together somewhere else. I have the numbers from the Engine stamp, ROPS tag and loader tag. The tractor, as I said runs and the 3 point seems to be ok (need to learn how to set all the knobs)however, at the higher RPM's it has a sputter. It will shift through the gears, albiet, a little stiff.
Any help will be appreciated.

Tom

EBAY search on Case 380ck shows manuals for it.
The 380CK is related to the Case 1190, 1194, as well as the David Brown 3 cylinder models.

I am thinking the clutch is the problem. Is there anything I can do/check before I begin to crack her open and take a look at the inards? Can the clutch be viewed without taking the trans cover off?
Again thanks for any input.

Tom

should have a red plastic cover on the bottom of tranny housing that can be removed via two bolts using a 7/16 wrench. don't know if you can see enough to tell for sure if it's the clutch. I don't think your unit will have a torque convert. most likely a 2 piece clutch like the 990 used is so your drive clutch can be shot and the live power and hydrualics will still work. i sent you an email seperatly detailing what we found to be the problem on a customers 380k

Thanks for the email and info Ray. That gives me a glimmer of hope. If the unit had a torque converter, it would have an additional lever/button or something obvious, I am assuming. That is why I am certain is does not. It has a 4 speed trans with 2 shift levers. One (on the left) for High/Low range with Forward and Reverse in each range. The right side is, 4 speeds only.

Again thanks

I don't have an operators manual for this unit, but I don't believe it has a torque converter. Thank you for responding. What's scary about an industrial.

The guys on the forum are real shy about answering questions on industrial equipment. I posted two questions on a 480 LL and never got a bite. Our 480 has a torque converter, does yours? If so, that could be the problem. You'll proably have to split it to find out, but it might be worth a trip to the local Case IH dealer and talk with the shop foreman.
