Okay everyone... I've asked a lot of questions, and bought and read some books and manuals, and even bought a used G159 motor (thanks JC) so I can start the rebuild. So I'm into it now, and the attached link will unfold my story as I go, and perhaps lend some insight to those (like me) that haven't seen it before. It will also serve as a visual help page since I really don't know what the heck I'm doing except what I've learned here, read on my own, and some mechanical aptitude. I've bought a slew of tools as needed. One question right off the bat... One of the springs shown on my page has some rust going, and some of the push rods showed similar rust bumps. What is this a symptom of and what should I be looking for as I take this thing apart to make sure it's near great before I split my tractor? I can take specific pictures if need be, and will be posting more as I go. For example, I use zip lock bags with marker writing on them at each stage of disassembly, and I also noticed that some camshaft lobes are burned more than others. I'll get photos and post them as I go. keep checking back - I'll post progress as I go through this. Now... 1- Since they are wet sleeves and I'll have to remove them for hot-tanking, where can I get just the seals for the sleaves? 2- Where can I get a gasket for the power steering pump, or can I just get a thin auto-supply paper and cut my own? I don't believe the full gasket set includes this? I'll also need the engine to torque tube gasket at some point right? 3- I measured my intake valve length - one of them anyway (just for fun while disassembling one valve off the head) and it is actually about 26 thou longer than the spec allowance - how can that be? 4- That rusty spring question I asked above... 5- The manual states that the "closed" end of the spring goes towards the head. Well... I read that after I took of the first valve (exhaust) and didn't mark it. Both ends look the same to me. What am I looking for? Thanks as always folks!!!
