The 430 is rated 35 horsepower by the factory, but most are closer to 40 horsepower. The only way to accurately check horsepower is with a PTO dynometer. You will need to find a tractor dealer who has one. There is NO field adjustment to increase horsepower except to increase RPM and advance the timing to 8 degrees BTDC. To get the big boost in power, the fuel injection pump MUST be removed from the engine and taken to a fuel injection pump service. That service can make the internal adjustments necessary to increase fuel delivery. The 530 setting will result in 43 horsepower. The 630 setting will result in 52 horsepower. To remove the fuel injection pump, take out the timing plug on the bell housing. Turn the fuel tank valve OFF. Remove the timing mark cover on the fuel injection pump. (Two small screws hold it in place.) With the fuel stop knob pulled out, slowly turn the engine until the two small lines in the fuel injection pump window are in alignment. Note the timing mark on the flywheel in the bell housing. It should be near 4 degrees BTDC. Now, you can remove linkage, lines, etc on the fuel injection pump for its removal. (It goes without saying, everything should be spotless around the fuel injection pump including the pump before proceeding!) You will need to remove the filters to gain the necessary room to pull the fuel pump free from its drive shaft. Good luck.
