Greetings!I know nothing about tractors, and have found this site to be a wealth of information. I own 10 acres, 7 of which is brush. I currently pay to have it cut, but would like to get a tractor to do it myself, along with some other future projects. I live in lower Michigan and a local fruit farmer has a 1983 Case 1194 diesel with "unknown" hours. He had it on ebay, but the $3300 bid did not meet the reserve price. Questions: What kind of reputation does the Case 1194 have? Local guys tell me I want gas, but others on this sight have questioned why I'm not looking for a diesel...is there a clear choice? Are there any persistent problems associated with the 1194? Anything I should pay attention to regarding this particular tractor? Any idea what this tractor should be worth? Again, I'll be mainly brush chopping, but would liek to be able to add other implements (loader, etc.) int he future if I need to. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
