I have a Case 530CK - 159 gas engine. Anyone know where I could get a block heater for it? Aftermarket? I'd prefer the actual block heater to the magnetic pan heater.

Indiana Jerry.

A heater that goes in a frost plug hole, is more efficient and is usually a smaller wattage (600 watt) than a tank heater (1500 watt) and does as good a job because the heat is going where it is needed most. It is also probably less expensive and as easy or easier to install. A lower radiator hose heater is a third type, but a little harder to install, and looses the heat thru the radiator when circulating.

I don"t think you need a block heater for a gas engine. Its a nice thought though for an engine lover. The water punp should have plugs for a cab heater which would accomadate a circulating heater or measure a soft plug and buy a heater that inserts in the block.

Dennis,

Where would I find one of these circulating heaters? Never heard of them before (which doesn't mean much - I'm new to the farm thing).

Indiana Jerry.

Do a search for "engine block heater". The common term is tank heater as one of the guys mentioned. I"m sure you can buy one right here on the at Yesterdays Tractor parts link.
Best, Dennis..... .

It gets down to -35 up in Canada (where I have this tractor) and in the winter it"s only run to clear the snow so the heater use is fairly handy. I like your suggestion on using a soft plug though - thanks.

If you buy a tank heater take the instruction sheet and throw it in the garbage, then hook it up so it takes cold water out of the head or upper part of the engine and pushes hot water into the water jacket around the cylinders. They work alot better this way, I have proved it many times.

I wonder if coolant that should go through the radiator will flow through the tank heater if you change the installation? I thought the tank heaters have a check valve but not sure?
